Here is the Resolution 1217 press from last week’s Canby Herald. It was a front page story by our new Herald reporter, Daniel Pearson, and titled “City Council OKs Political Statement.”
The gallery was overflowing on the night of May 22nd as we discussed this Resolution entitled “A Resolution In Opposition To Any Further Infringement Of Second Amendment Rights.” The intent of the councilors who voted in favor of it was to make a political statement against the new Oregon state background check law which requires background checks on private gun sales and transfers, essentially closing the background check loophole.
Approximately 50 people came. This caused the gallery to overflow so some folks had to stand out in the hallway. Visibility is zero out there. Clearly, it was an issue of interest.
