We amended the municipal code on drug paraphernalia (offenses and penalties and nuisance sections) at last week’s city council meeting. This is in anticipation of the legalization of recreational marijuana that will occur on July 1st in Oregon.
Here are some highlights about the new law I learned from an OLCC speaker last month:
- adults 21 years and older can legally possess and use recreational marijuana
- it can be used at home or on private property but not in public
- you can possess up to 8 oz in your home and grow up to 4 plants
- you can give it away but cannot sell it or buy it legally until licensed retail shops open up (probably late next year)
