Oregon City had their groundbreaking ceremony for their new library expansion project this morning from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.  I met a few Library Foundation members (pictured below ) and learned about their  upcoming campaign.

This project was years in the making and I could feel the community excitement there today. I overheard someone say, “This is a big day for Oregon City!” That pretty much summed it up. There must have been at least 70 people there to hear the speeches at 11 a.m.  In addition to the current and past mayors and various city commissioners, Martha Shraeder, the Clackamas County Commissioner and Bret Barton, the House Rep, were there too. That was an impressive show of support.

I am excited for our own Library groundbreaking ceremony in Canby on August 31st at 2 pm! It will be a smaller affair but it will be a big day for Canby, too.
