Light Up the Night

It was a good time at Canby’s annual Light Up the Night event last Friday at Wait Park. My kids and I have gone the past several years, although my husband rarely makes it on time because it starts at 6:00 pm, which is early for a  commuter from Portland.

The person nominated to actually flip the switch to light up the park this year was Hannah, a 12 year old girl who won the “sELFie” contest.

The Eccles PTA organized a float for the first time this year and my kids happily jumped aboard. I realized last year that Carus Elementary was the only school that participated, so I pitched the idea of our Eccles PTA joining the parade, and they ran with it.

Thanks to the dedication of Canby Main Street and the Public Works Department, the event was once again a huge success.
