The Eccles Oregon Battle of the Books in-school competition was yesterday. My 3rd grade team, Team Tigers, did their best but were beat out by the two other 3rd grade teams. It is hard to lose. I was reminded today that it is important for kids (and adults) to learn how to win and lose gracefully.
All of the kids that did not get to advance to the district competition (7 of the 13 teams) next week at Ninety One School were admirable in their ability to cope with loss. We are proud of all 55 competitors for their commitment to read their assigned books. Good literature was read, and that is a victory for all, really!
