The city council meeting was rather enjoyable last night.
-Judge Graf swore in a new police officer, Michael Manns (Molalla HS class of 2012 and UO grad) and Manns’ grandmother pinned on his new badge for him. That was special.
-We passed an ordinance approving a contract to provide a new, higher tech system of record keeping for the police department to improve their efficiency and keep them aligned with other PDs in the county.
-Citizen Tony Crawford invited us to Bridging Cultures’ 9th annual Thanksgiving meal this Saturday at 5 pm.
-The new AmeriCorps staff person, Grant, introduced himself and told us that he would be assisting the Economic Development department through July. Welcome, Grant.
-Jamie Stickel, the Canby Main Street Manager, announced the Light Up the Night tradition coming on December 1st from 5-8 pm. Time to register your floats!
-We delivered our liaison reports, aka shared with the group the various meetings and community events we’ve attended of late.
-We finally approved the Transit Master Plan. Our Jarrett Walker and Associates consultant and our Transit Director Julie Wehling have been a fine team, answering questions and creating a plan that took a lot of community input into consideration, will increase efficiencies, save money, and anticipate future expansion.
-Walt Daniels (our Hometown Hero) gave a quick follow up after the master plan vote, painting a historical picture of how much our transit has expanded in reach and ridership since we withdrew from the Trimet Service Area in 2002.
